In Kyoto!
We made it to Kyoto! The Shinkansen bullet train went so fast. It was raining and I thought we might fling off at any point. It was spacious too so luckily our luggage fit fine - The train was like a plane on the ground (no security though) with a lady going down the isle offering food/drinks - except they were all dressed like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. Everyone here is so friendly and I feel like more people know English than in Tokyo. We got lunch at this noodle place and the Asian lady working had purple hair and asked to take our picture for her facebook page, not sure where that will end up. The place we're staying is perfect for what we were going for - Andy had to duck to get inside. We both woke up real stiff though since it basically is sleeping on the ground with no pillow. We ate at a famous tempura place that the chef made right in front of us- so different from tempura at home. I was about to explode when they brought out the main course. Kyoto way of eating is like 15 courses but all of them are just a few bites. One of the women who worked there (in full kimono) followed us down the street, to the cab, and watched it pull away- I found it creepy as she stalked behind us but apparently they do that at nice restaurants here. Excited for all of the good food!!
