Favorite day in Kyoto!

Our first full day we biked through a town (my biking skills are not what they used to be, especially with cars next to me) across rivers/mountains. It was amazing- we went through the bamboo forest and saw some more temples. We also hiked up this one mountain that overviewed the whole city with wild monkeys everywhere and you can feed them (we get in a cage to feed them) and interact with them. The only warning is to not make eye contact because they might attack you. The baby monkeys just latched to their mothers nipple all day long and didn't let go no matter how fast she ran. Thankfully the hike was worth it once we got to the top because we were getting a little heated that we had to pay THEM to hike 6 miles up a mountain. We ate really good "soy milk skin" as it translates, tofu, and other odd foods for lunch. Afterwards we went to the famous Golden Pavilion which was amazing and beautiful!!! There were beautiful zen gardens and a pond around it too. (at this point i usually meet Andy at the end of the garden/temple pathways since he gets to the end in about 10 minutes) On the walk there from then train station we saw a man on a bike get hit by a truck- very scary but thankfully he was okay. I'd say my biking is over for the trip. We had another great dinner with 12 courses at a place that only sat 10 and we were the only foreigners. Im really starting to like sake and this place had great sake. The whole place was laughing and bowing every time Andy said a Japanese phrase- not positive if he was using them correctly. Everyone was so friendly though and most places can say generally in English what you are eating! We barely made our midnight curfew that the place we're staying has :)
